Hi Pack,
I have had a conversation with some parents who are concerned with respect to the number of activities that the cubs are involved in this week. I think that one meeting a week at a maximum is sufficient for kids our age. Therefor due to the fact that we had a day hike on Friday and most of us will be involved with the ice fishing trip this Saturday (think fishing badge).
Cubs is cancelled this Wednesday February 22nd, and will be back on Wednesday February 29th, 2012 in the Gym at the Church. I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for ice fishing.

February 15th Cub Meeting
Hello Pack!
First we would love to acknowledge our amazing cubs who did their presentations this past Wednesday.
They included reports on Bobby Orr, Sir John A. Macdonald, Marc Garneau, and Billy Bishop.
They also presented us with 2 amazing Canadian folk tales, The Long Winter and A Yukon Ghost Story. We look forward to hearing from the rest of our cubs this week.
Along with more amazing reports and stories we are working on our Space Exploration Badge. This is always a fun Badge to work on as the kids get to be creative and Design their own Space Stations and Rockets! We will be working with Clay and other crafts. It is always exciting to see how their minds invent the future. We may, one day, be living in one of these stations :)
The exact page we are working on can be found here and it will be numbers 1, 3,4,5 that we will be working hard on. If your cub would like to come prepared have them look up some of the information we will be covering. We always love to hear their point of view on the topics we are covering.
On the cub meeting for the 22nd we will be working on our World Religions Badge and our World Cubbing Badge. These are badges where all things on the page will need to be completed. Please take the time with your cub and go over them and see what they can get started on now. Thank-you
Akela and Bagheera
*sorry, I had this read to post on Saturday but instead of posting it I clicked save. That is what I get for working on 3 projects at once. I noticed it when I went to look for the link to some of the stories when I was talking to a friend.*

February 8th or 9th Cub Meeting
Hello Cubs J
First of all as you
can see by the header we are considering changing the day we hold cubs on and
the time. There will a further blog post and facebook post about this to come.
We had a very crazy
meeting this Wednesday and we learned a lot about respecting the old wolf and
respecting ourselves while respecting others.
We are all very
excited for having completed part A of our Purple star and completed all
requirements for our Aboriginal Awareness Badge. We would like to extend and big wolf cub howl
of thanks to Nick Mould who was our special speaker and told us about how his
life today has changed from his ancestors.
Next week we will
hopefully be finishing off our Canadian Heritage Badge as well as doing all our
requirements for our International Trade Badge. We have some fun international
money we will be bringing to share as well as some other fun things to complete
this badge. We need all cubs to come prepared with their scrapbooks on a famous
Canadian. This is not limited to someone
who is dead but anyone they would like to look up from astronauts, to
musicians, sports figures and more. We would also like them to look up and
share a Canadian Folktale to share with the pack as well. Sister Krell is going to come in and teach
the cubs a Canadian folksong and we are very grateful to her for helping us cut
back on the work the cubs will have to do at home. I am sure each cub will come
away with a little more love of music and history after she shares her amazing
talent with them.
Next on the list of
things for the Cubs to work on is to complete 5 of the requirements for Part B
of the Purple Star. We know that a lot of the cubs have done most of these
things like a food drive with the church or school since the beginning of
September. Since that is the time that cubs were supposed to start we are
giving all your parents the right to go back through to that time to see what
your cub has completed. Please have your cub write up a couple of sentences
about what they did and how it made them feel.
We will then be able to sign them off and focus on completing our other
badges that go along with the purple star.
In the grouping with
the purple star is a Language Badge. This is not something we work with in
cubs, it is a badge they do on their own time. If your cub has been learning
another language like French or sign language please have them let us know. We
can bring in someone to have a 2 to 3 sentence conversation with them and then
they will receive a special strip to share with everyone. I will be reposting the links to the badges I
have talked about in this post.
Hopefully I have
covered everything so far and as you know feel free to contact Matt or myself with any questions or concerns.
Hope you have a Great
Week
Akela and Bagheera
